Andrew has been a Heavy Diesel Mechanic for 15 years. He got his start the way a lot of people do - he knew someone in the industry. Not because he was more qualified or more experienced than everyone else who applied, but because he got his foot in the door.
Today, he runs his own diesel fitting business servicing mining clients, with two Heavy Diesel Mechanics and two service utes on the road. And from the other side of the hiring desk, he’s seen the same thing happen over and over again: good people get knocked back, not because they lack the drive, but because they have no experience or knowledge they can demonstrate.
